Description

Embark on an unforgettable journey starting at El Silencio Private Reserve, where we'll drive as close to the base of Arenal Volcano as safely possible. Our adventure begins with a 1-kilometer hike along a volcanic stone path of moderate difficulty, culminating at the closest viewpoint permitted near the volcano. Here, our knowledgeable guide will share insights into the formation and history of Arenal Volcano, including its 1968 eruption. Enjoy panoramic views of the Green Lagoon and Lake Arenal before descending along the same trail.

Next, immerse yourself in the regenerating and primary rainforests surrounding Arenal Volcano on a 1.5 km (1 mi) trail. With luck, encounter a diverse array of rainforest flora and fauna, including toucans, turkeys, orioles, peccaries, snakes, and monkeys. Conclude this leg of the journey with a refreshing fruit break to rejuvenate.

Our next destination is the renowned La Fortuna Waterfall, cascading from a height of 70 meters (230 feet) into crystal-clear waters. Along the trail, observe local plant and animal life such as sloths, toucans, orioles, and butterflies. Take a dip in the refreshing waters, capture stunning photographs, or simply unwind and appreciate the natural beauty of La Fortuna Waterfall.

Visiting La Fortuna Waterfall supports the local community's Development Association, with 100% of entrance fees contributing to social projects benefiting schools, nutritional centers, orphanages, recycling centers, roads, and visitor security.
